Project Overview

Construction of a new 1.0MGD wastewater project, delivered via Progressive Design-Build project delivery. The PDB team completed a thorough study/preconstruction phase – evaluating alternative treatment schemes and ordering long-lead equipment while optimizing the design and scope to align with the project budget.

The new Niwot Wastewater Treatment Facility incorporates a UV disinfection system to replace the outdated chlorine-based process, upgrades the existing headworks improve screening and grit removal, increasing overall treatment efficiency and adds new clarifiers, a scum pit, an oxidation ditch, and an anaerobic digester to modernize biological and solids treatment processes. In addition, major underground infrastructure upgrades, electrical, and controls are a major component of this project.

This project is currently under construction, over 50% complete.
