Project Overview
Design workshops advanced the design for pretreatment, iron and manganese removal, filtration, and disinfection that covered three sites: South WTP, Central WTP, and Lake Pump Station, and numerous cost iterations.
SWTP included process piping and valve replacements, replacement of a sodium hypochlorite generation system, and installation of chemical feed pumps and piping.
CWTP was an expansion project on an extremely tight footprint. This required extensive site layout planning and construction staging. The work included equipment demolition, installation of valving on the raw water supply pipelines, installation of a disinfection system, and rehabilitation of an existing storage tank and sodium hypochlorite room.
Lake Pump Station included the construction of a new pump station building with wetwell, installation of submersible raw water pumps, improvements to the existing pump station, and a new raw water transmission pipeline to CWTP and construction of a pipeline to connect to the existing SWTP raw water transmission pipeline. Work included site work, electrical I&C, integration improvements, and HVAC.
The project team switched to a pre-cast wetwell to expedite the construction and minimize the time frame the lake needed to be drained. Through the extensive workshops with operations and the design team, countless cost savings and ways to advance the schedule were incorporated into the project.
